The Hub – an international civil-rights multimedia mashup18 Jan
Gregory Heller of CivicActions stopped in today to use the pariSoma space (disclosure: we’re not technically open yet, but I provided the space since he’s a fellow Drupaler and ngo / social benefit techie).
As is the beauty of coworking, we were discussing mapping mash-ups (like Mapovino) and it wasn’t very long before he mentioned an awesome-sounding (and Drupal-based) civil-rights multimedia mash-up called The Hub. The idea is to not only collect videos of civil rights abuses, but then display a map of all the spots in the world where these videos were filmed. They’ve even developed a whole module set that encodes and uploads the videos to a 3rd party server, all in one simple “upload” step – the same way YouTube or Google Videos does.
It’s still in beta, with the mapping component being one of the parts still in development. Keep an eye on it over the next few weeks.
