More Openmoko events in November!

Posted on Oct 31, 2008

UPDATE:  Our second Work Night has been postponed, in lieu of visiting with Openmoko CEO at the Four Seas Restaurant that Tuesday night.

PariSoMa currently hosts the San Francisco Openmoko Users Group, which meets monthly and welcomes all members of the OpenMoko community. (Schedule below). For more information about the Openmoko, please see the product and community sites; for FreeRunner purchase information, see our Openmoko Shop.

We are hosting two code sprints this month, plus a Users Group meeting. Everything takes place at PariSoMa, and everyone is welcome – we have tasks that can be divvied up to experienced developers and beginners.

Upcoming Openmoko Users Group Meetings and Code Sprints:

  • Weds, Nov 12 – Code Sprint
  • Tues, Nov 18 – Code Sprint – CANCELED.  Meet Openmoko CEO instead!
  • Tues, Nov 25 – Users Group Mtg

The focus of the code sprints will be:

  • Media player testing: Testing, troubleshooting and documenting various media players for the OpenMoko. This is great for a wide range of Openmoko users, from beginners to developers
  • Bug fixes (based on current Openmoko bug list): This is aimed at developers, putting heads and focus together to work through a list of “nuisance” bugs.
  • Online / streaming radio player port (e.g. Pandora, Last.fm, etc): Working to port web-based streaming radio players to work on the Openmoko. The work is aimed at Openmoko and web devs, documentation / use testing by any type of users

MobileTech for Social Change

Posted on Oct 27, 2008

This is a great event (barcamp, really) hosted by two great organizations – Mobile2.0 and MobileActive.

We’ll be there in support of Twitter-based human rights activism (we are a tech partner on the project) and the Openmoko open-source phone.  Hope to see you there too!

There is a wiki, it’s just not obvious from the registration page.  Check out the wiki here.

Posted on Oct 21, 2008

Wondering what you can do to help in what might be the most important election of our lives?

Come join us Sunday at PariSoMa.  We’ll make sure Barack has enough volunteers to counter the smears, and we’ll get voters to the polls in the critical swing states.

All you need to bring is your cell phone; we’ll provide scripts and lists of voters to call. For extra kharma points, bring a snack or drinks to share with your fellow volunteers. Better yet, bring a friend. But at least bring yourself!

Sign up SOON here:
