Vote! Coworking Panels at SXSW

Posted on Aug 17, 2009

Please check out the following proposals for the South by Southwest conference. Vote for them (click “thumbs up”) if they intrigue you. Both are central to what PariSoMa’s all about.

State of the Coworking Nation – In just a few years, Coworking evolved from an obscurity practiced by a few odd freelancers, to a network of thriving spaces in more than 40 countries. Coworking leaders discuss and debate the movement’s biggest strides over the past year, its biggest challenges, and where it’s all headed from here. Vote here.

Kill Your Cubicle: The Future of Work – This is about the Breakout! Festival, where a guerrilla crew of urban planners, architects, designers, coders and rabblerousers are using wii-fi, guts and a little duct tape to break hundreds of office workers out of their cubicle prisons in Manhattan, Paris and Barcelona – and how you can do the same thing in your city. Vote here.

Thanks!

Net Tuesday – Socialbrite.org: Social tools for social change

Posted on Aug 06, 2009

Tuesday September 8, 2009 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm

NetSquared is a nonprofit initiative that pursues Web-enabled progressive social change by mobilizing individuals and communities, providing Web-based tools, and awarding financial support to leverage social action projects. Every month, the NetSquared community comes together offline at Net Tuesday events to mix, swap stories and ideas, build new relationships, and collaborate. These gatherings provide a chance to connect for all those interested in the intersection of social technologies and social change, whether you’re part of a nonprofit organization or a for-profit organization, a funder or a consultant, a developer or an entrepreneur.

This month’s agenda: Spotlighting tools and causes

Socialbrite will first show some of the things they do, including their Sharing Center and community widgets. For the second half of the evening we’ll showcase some other community-focused organizations with a strong social media component, most likely a 5-minute talk for each followed by 5 to 10 minutes of questions from the audience.
