Semantic Garage – Feb 11 @ 5:30pm

WHAT: Semantic Garage is an event that lets new semantic companies show off their products.    The unifying themes are a bootstrapped philosophy, simple demoable (or locally demoable) products, and an open philosophy for your data and code.

WHO: The event will bring together people working on semantic projects with people in other spaces (media, advertising, science, etc.) to see where ideas and products can solve people’s problems.

IDEA: The idea of Semantic garage is to encourage entrepreneurs and developers to  build a network of business practices, open services (APIs) and open code to lower the barrier for planning and developing semantic companies.  It also is a network of peers who help each other plan, scale, fund, and monetize semantic start up companies.  This meetup it in the spirit of DIY attitude of the statup community.  It’s members taking on the jargon laid myth of complexity surrounding the semantic web and break it open for all to benefit.

The first Semantic Garage Meetup will have three demos, plenty of conversation, and diverse crowd.

The presenting companies are:

RadarMail is the result of a $40M DARPA investment in R&D for email productivity.  It connects email to other software by pushing task-relevant information found in text into productivity tools such as spreadhseets, todo lists and CRM systems.  Variations of the basic product target particular work roles, providing a user experienced designed for a person’s particular tasks, tools and data.  Here, we demonstrate RMcore, the role-neutral version of the product.

drupalHappy New Year!!

2010 is going to be great year for the San Francisco Drupal Users Group!!

First of all there has been a major upgrade to the Parisoma facility. We have reconfigured the space, painted and best of all we have gotten a professional AV system with killer projector, very large screen sound system, and more so be sure to come on down and check it out.

Drupalcon is coming to San Francisco April 19th to 21st we will go over what we are looking for and how you can help make this the best Drupalcon to date.

We have two great presentations to start the year off right.

For our Case Study af83, inc. will show a site http://www.coldcases…. we built at the end of last year which really harnesses the power of Drupal and Drupal publishing. We will look at how we used panels, views and arguments to create a dynamic editorial site.

The tech session this month will be presented by Mike McCaffery from Architecture for Humanity who will be talking about the Features module and how its used to increase your development productivity and reduce redundancy.

So, updated space, better AV, cold beer, and two great presentations what could be better?

Come on down and join us!

PS: if you have friends who you think would be interested in Drupal please forward this meetup to them so they can attend.
