FailChat #2: Startup Power & Control

Contact Webwallflower Events for event and ticket information.

Welcome to FailChats, based on the groundbreaking FailCon: the first conference ever to focus on the ins and outs of business failure, and how to prepare.

Developing a successful startup is never a one-person job; you’ll have a co-founder or early employees, advisors, and sometimes an investor or three. As the business grows, balancing power between everyone, while keeping the team positive and yourself feeling rewarded can be challenging. Too often we hear stories of painful co-founder divorces and VCs forcing founders out.

So come and meet with industry leaders, developers, and entrepreneurs for a laid-back happy hour, then join our panel and hear from some of the most experienced folks in the industry as they share their stories and advice on how to manage power and control in a growing company.

Augmented Reality Meetup

About this group:

Hello, I’m @sidgabriel, the organizer of ARDevMob: The San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley Augmented Reality Meetup group.

Augmented reality is a human interface metaphor. Unlike the “desktop metaphor” which implies a computerized representation of a desk, files and folders, “Augmented Reality” implies that computer science can inform and extend everything in our visual, auditory and cognitive perception of reality. Making every interface relevant to a “first person” narrative perspective.

This group provides space for networking, sharing, presentation and how-to sessions exploring the art and science of Augmented Reality. Where it is now and where it is going. We understand this is a subject of wide interest across many professions. Everyone with an interest in the state of the art is welcome. Presenter, developer or spectator enthusiast you are welcome, we are happy to have you.

About this meetup:

Goodbye and good luck to Jason!

Jason has been here at pariSoma for 2 months on his tour of coworking spaces worldwide which has included New York, Miami, and Seattle. Next stop: Amsterdam, assuming the volcano stops spewing ash one of these days.  We were happy to have him and wish him the best of luck in the future, particularly if that includes a return stint at pariSoma once he’s back from travels abroad :)

Jason is the owner and director of ProtonRadio.com, an online radio station and music label dedicated to sustaining & promoting electronic dance music and works full-time while travelling around the world at different coworking spaces.

Hit the jump for a photo from the going away happy hour we had on Friday.  There’s no bad excuse for yummy wine, chocolate from the chocolate factory, and stout from the city beer store!
