WHAT IS IDEAKICK?

“Startup ideas on steroids!”
- Ideakick attendee

Ideakick is a community that springboards budding entrepreneurial ideas and concepts.

Think of Ideakick as a thinktank for your business ideas. You can pitch a business idea that you’ve been thinking about or are currently working on. Gain valuable feedback, industry insight, and/or connect with someone interested in working on the same idea.

SCHEDULE:

  • 6:30 – 7:30 Networking
  • 7:30 – 8:30 Ideakicking*
  • 8:30 – 9:30 Hanging out

Ideakicking: Anyone who is interested may present an idea they have been thinking about or working on to the group. The presenter gets a total of 10 minutes and will typically use 2-3 minutes discussing the idea itself. For however much time is left, others in the room will ask questions, provide feedback and actively brainstorm. We’ll time each presentation and at the end of 10 minutes, we’ll move on the next presentation.

WHO SHOULD COME:

  • You have an idea: People who have an idea, want to share it with others, and would like to get some feedback
  • You have a skill set: People who have a specific skill set and are looking for a project to get involved with where they can apply it
  • You have a desire to build REAL relationships: People who are interested in doing more than just networking. It’s better to have 1 friend than 10 acquaintances.
  • You’re an Angel Investor or VC!

Bay Area Startup Weekend

May 6th @pariSoma

Startup Weekend is a 54h crash course about Entrepreneurship! We are back in SF, for another great Weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets – primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people – to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.

Startup Weekend recruits a highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more to build communities, companies and projects.

Founded in 2007 by Andrew Hyde, the weekend is a concept of a conference focusing on learning by creating. It is known for its quick decisions, ‘out of the box’ thinking (oh no, the buzzwords are attacking!), unique facilitation technique and letting the founders show what they can do. The program has already met with success in Boulder, Toronto, New York, Hamburg, Houston, West Lafayette, bay area, DC and more.

The participants that attend a Startup Weekend decide what they want to tackle over the weekend and come out at the end with several developed companies or projects. Attendees are responsible for bringing the same desire and passion to the project and walk out of the room with the task at hand, in a short 54 hours. Sound intense? It is!
