Bay Area Startup Weekend

May 6th @pariSoma

Startup Weekend is a 54h crash course about Entrepreneurship! We are back in SF, for another great Weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets – primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people – to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.

Startup Weekend recruits a highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more to build communities, companies and projects.

Founded in 2007 by Andrew Hyde, the weekend is a concept of a conference focusing on learning by creating. It is known for its quick decisions, ‘out of the box’ thinking (oh no, the buzzwords are attacking!), unique facilitation technique and letting the founders show what they can do. The program has already met with success in Boulder, Toronto, New York, Hamburg, Houston, West Lafayette, bay area, DC and more.

The participants that attend a Startup Weekend decide what they want to tackle over the weekend and come out at the end with several developed companies or projects. Attendees are responsible for bringing the same desire and passion to the project and walk out of the room with the task at hand, in a short 54 hours. Sound intense? It is!

Meanwhile, the trash talk is in full flow at pariSoma. Here is one of our favorites

You know…ever since I was released from prison from multiple-GRAND-TABLE-TENNIS Homicides in the 1st and 2nd degree, matches, I’ve lived a quiet, unassuming life. I wanted nothing with the sport. I swore I would never touch rubber and paddle again with such violence. I became…as the French would say…an Entrepreneur!

However, I can NOT stand quietly and watch good people be threatened by a new form of darkness. I must rise with the call and I will re-apply my forehand smash on inside-spin to those that dare to destroy my people.

…And you will know my name is T-Money, when I stand, at the table, before thee!

Bring it!
T-Money

–A pariSoma member identified only as “T-Money”

If that doesn’t get you all fired up, I don’t know what will!

Finally, a BIG thanks to our startup ping pong tournament sponsors – Microsoft’s BizSpark Startup initiative!
