Seen any great augmented reality art projects lately? Let's get together and see what's happening out there!
In partnership with AR Arts, let's meet up at pariSoma on May 25th. Dee will round up some videos from around the world and give a preview of some of the artists involved in the AR Art Gala at the big Augmented Reality Event June 2-3 in Santa Clara. We hope to have Sid Gabriel teleconference into the event to discuss his recent AR Arts projects.
If you have some work to show, or work-in-progress, bring it along! Network with the gang and do some projects together!
The weekend kicks off with a party at 808 Detroit St, SF TONIGHT. The venue is the home base for the Hackathon's organizer, Sid, and is "the one with the ample parking, patio, deck, hot tub, multiple fireplaces, multizone music system and gadget lab."

Augmented reality is a human interface metaphor. Unlike the "desktop metaphor" which implies a computerized representation of a desk, files and folders, "Augmented Reality" implies that computer science can inform and extend everything in our visual, auditory and cognitive perception of reality. Making every interface relevant to a "first person" narrative perspective.
This group provides space for networking, sharing, presentation and how-to sessions exploring the art and science of Augmented Reality. Where it is now and where it is going. We understand this is a subject of wide interest across many professions. Everyone with an interest in the state of the art is welcome. Presenter, developer or spectator enthusiast you are welcome, we are happy to have you.
This group began as the Chrome OS developers and is transforming into alt.os.liberated a user group for people who operate independent of os. I took the name from alt.comp.os and added a modern and international element. (alt.comp.os + verdade os libertará = alt.os.liberated) The ones who can operate every interface, and won't ever use just one operating system for everything.
We're interested in alternative operating systems and new uses of mainstream operating systems. Our very next meeting will be a multi-os roundup featuring Moblin, OSX ChromeOS, Ubuntu Netbook remix, Windows 7 and CrunchBang Linux (#!).
This is an informal Meetup with no agenda. My new company TechnologistMedia will cover refreshments. I'll give a brief description of the AR Hackathon that I am organizing and the rest of the night will be free form "random access".
On April 24th and 25th ARDevMob will hold an augmented hackathon event at The pariSoma Innovation Loft in San Francisco, California. Developers will form teams and compete to create the best Mobile and Web Applications. To qualify applications must contain a "mixed reality" or "alternative interface" which utilizes a web or cellphone camera. This is a trial run for a larger global event we are holding in June.
We are a group of technologists, designers and hobbyists that support a healthy and empowered culture of collaboration and invention. We hold regular public meetings and maintain online resources for other Android Makers. The group meets in the spirit of the "home brew computer club" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homebrew_Computer_Club ) our public events are open to all makers, professionals and hobbyists alike.
Even if you come with little experience, we're sure you can make meaningful contributions.
This event will focus on catching people up to where the group, and the technology, is now. We have lots to enjoy but we are leaving people behind. Too many people, both developers and users are stuck on Android 1.5 or 1.6. Some users are even trapped on *gasp* Android 1.
Sid Gabriel brings pariSoma the first in a series of meetups about Augmented Reality. Targeted at developers, but with interesting content for all, this particular meetup will discuss the interfaces from Minority Report using Flash and FLAR toolkit. Check it out!
